Scott turned over the climbing division of the Naval
Academy's Mountaineering Club to me during his senior year at the Academy when I
was a sophomore. During his time here he was known to all for his passion for
climbing at his valiant attempts to bring climbing to the Academy. He made every
effort to enlarge our club and plan for the Academy to get a rock wall of its
own. When he turned over the club he told me to keep trying, someday it would
happen. This summer they started the planning and construction of a $350,000
rock wall at the Academy. A proposal has been floating around written in 1995 by
Midn 3/c Scott Kinkele(a sophomore at the time). After all these years, Scott's
hard work has paid off and everyone here at the Naval Academy will benefit from
his efforts for years to come. I am presently attempting to see if we can
dedicate a plaque on the wall to Scott and the legacy he leaves behind here.
He was a mentor, a role-model, and a friend to so many here...he will live on
in our hearts, our dreams, and our memories for years to come. This world has
lost an amazing man...

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I
am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the
sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken
in the mornings hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at
night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.
