Subject: Why?
I am an Anacortes resident by choice. I choose to live here because I felt
that it was a relatively crime free area to live in. Boy was I wrong.
Everyday I commute to work in Marysville from here and now I don't
feel very
safe doing that. I have
seen the State Patrol alot more since Scott was
killed on highway 20.
Seeing the police there makes me feel a little safer
than I would if they weren't there but I still have chills running
up and
down my spine when I cross over the bridge and look at the
field. Today I
saw the cross with flowers on the side of the road and I began to
cry. I
don't know why I cried except that I felt sadness for the family
of Scott.
I can't help but to think of how his parents feel because I have a
four year
old son and I would be insane if he was killed.
I believe the mother of those two men is somewhat responsible for
the way
they turned out to be as adults.
She has not even acknowledged that it was
her children that killed that wonderful man on highway 20. She thinks that
alcohol caused it but she is wrong. Her two sons were not taught the values
of respecting others as children and they have grown up showing
that.
What I cannot understand
is why those men were not further investigated
when they were pulled over by the police. I hate to admit it but I was
stopped for going 30 miles over the speed limit one day. The officer asked
me to step out of the car.
I think he wanted to see if I was sober or not.
He told me that he could have sited me for a wreckless driving
offense but
because I was honest with him about my speeding he just gave me a
speeding
ticket. I learned that 20
miles over the speed limit or more is a wreckless
driving offense which would give the officer probable cause to ask
me to
exit the vehicle. Why then
were those men not asked to exit the vehicle?
I
don't know. Why weren't
they given a ticket? I don't know. I am not
saying that the officer who pulled them over was at fault at all
because if
he or she would have known then he or she would have stopped them,
I am just
stating facts.
I feel that the man who did the shooting should get the full
punishment of
death or life in prison.
The others should also get the maximum penalty for
what their involvement of the crime was. The two brothers seem to think
that the justice system in America is a joke. I hope the courts show them
that it is not a joke.
They killed a U.S. Navy Officer and they should have
to think about that for the rest of their lives. They have also brought
shame to this community. I
do not think they realize the damage they have
done. Wake up guys! I've been considering starting a pitition to
the
Skagit County Court for a first degree murder charge but I would
need alot
of help. Please E-Mail me
and let me know what you think of this idea and
if you could help me.
My condolences to the Family of
Scott Kinkele
