I knew Scott through my wife, 1Lt Katherine "Kat" Ring. They were classmates during navigator training at Randolph AFB TX, class 00-10. I wanted to post this message to pass along how awesome Scott was. Kat mentioned this site to me yesterday and I've been visiting the sight for the past two days reading the press releases along with everyone's memories/stories of him. Kat is still in shock and is very saddened.
Scott was a very caring and humble person. He, along with Jen, Tony, Mike,
Pony,
Chris and many others helped my wife handle the sudden passing of her grandfather
in the early phase of her training. I was deployed to Saudi
Arabia at the time and am VERY appreciative of the friendship, help and care
that he showed her during her time of sadness. As Jen mentioned in an
earlier post, his warmth and care showed strong during her time of loss as
well. He had a heart of gold and I'm so very thankful for him. I remember
talking to him right after he got his wings… He was so very proud, so very
humble… I remember is glowing and kind smile, his up-beat and positive
attitude.. I remember when Pony, Mike, Kat and I went boating in San Antonio
and running into him when we were docking Pony's boat. Scott helped to dock
the boat and fix the trailer hitch, all after coming back from running in a
marathon. What an incredible man, officer and human being. I only wish that
I would've had more time to get to know him better. I feel so very blessed
and grateful for having known him. What an incredible man, officer, leader..I would like to finish by saying that Kat and I send our deepest regrets and
condolences to his entire family/friends and our prayers are with you daily.
Kat is at survival training right now (she got her wings! She gives many
thanks to Scott for all of his help) and she tried everything she could to
be at the funeral. Both her and I love and miss you all from Randolph/00-10
so very much. Scott will always be in our memories and the impact
that he
had on our lives as well as the lives of every person who ever met him will live
on… God bless.
