I don't know how to put in words what I feel about
Scott's death, but I will try. I had been in class everyday for two months and
had known him since spring of last year when our class started in Randolph AFB.
One day he we were in class kidding around and then he was gone.
I don't think I have accepted that he is gone yet. I keep looking for him in
class, I want to turn around and see him there and talk about how great it will
be when we finally get out of training and get to Spain. I guess some time in
the future I will have face the painful fact that he will not be in class
anymore.
He was smart not just book smart but quick, he could read a book before class
then tell the instructor when he was wrong. All during our Advanced EW training
I was pushing myself to keep up with him. The difference was that I had to study
for many hrs to get grades close to what he got with only a 15 min prep before
the test. (Our final grades Scott was #1 and I got #2, 97.6/97.4) He made me
push myself harder then I ever had done in a classroom before, I think it was
just his way. He would run a marathon or climb mountains while I was studying.
He knew how to push himself, I know he would have done well in the Navy.
He was a good man, I have met few like him. I will miss him.
Matt
